This year i also participated in the Bergen City Marathon 5 km run =p i haven't trained much running between June or July 2017 and March 2018 so my endurance is totally nothing to brag about xD in March however i downloaded and started using the app "start running" that got me started running. In the beginning with 1 min run 1 min walk intervals, and then gradually increase of the duration of the running intervals. I also signed up for Running for Freedom where i ran for 1 hour (parts of it was walking) to collect money to work against human slavery. So in total i ran like 9,1 km there.
So bergen city marathon, i was a bit late and stressed. Waiting for the bus i remembered i had forgotten the start-number at home, so i ran back and missed the bus. We reached another bus, and i had kinda drunk like 1+ litre of water so i was worried i needed to go to the toilet during the race, and the line outside the toilet was neverending. Eventually when it was only a few minutes to start i got access to the toilet . I was ready in time, and started quite behind in the race. The good part with starting behind is that you run past more people and get an ego boost. The bad side is that there are more people in your path so you might get slowed down xD
I started slowly to not burn myself out before it even started, because the real start where the timer starts wass later than the place we started from. Somehow i didn't find out where the real start was, so i didn't know when to run faster xD eventually i increased my speed though. It was kinda nice weather during the race. Party cloudy, a bit sun, and cool temperature. Kinda perfect weather for running. The first part was kinda flat, then came the uphill. Most people who does the 5 km do it because they have not good enough endurance to do half marathon or whole marathon, which means many people walk when it's uphill, myself included. The uphill in this race is kinda narrow, so even if i wanted to run it would be too many walking people to make that possible so i got a bit extra slowed down here. After the uphill was finished i had the space to run again, and from there i ran to the finish line. Somehow the last part is the hardest when people cheer you on and you know the finish line is close because your body doesn't want to be almost finished, but completely finished, so you have to force your body to continue against its will. But i did make it in the end =D got my medal and some water too and could rest a bit. My time was almost the same as the previous year, so i was a bit disappointed because i wanted to be faster haha. Oh well, if i keep practising i might be better next year! =D
